Nestled in the heart of Nashville, Chauhan Ale and Masala House offers a vibrant and bold journey into Indian cuisine with a contemporary twist. Known for its inventive take on traditional flavors, this Indian restaurant invites diners to explore a menu bursting with rich spices and unexpected, delightful combinations. From the moment you step inside, the warm, colorful ambiance—accentuated by Bollywood films quietly projected onto exposed brick walls—sets a calming yet lively tone perfect for sharing a memorable meal.
The culinary adventure begins with standout starters like the Lamb Keema Papadi Nachos, a perfect blend of crispy, savory textures paired with robust spices, or the playful Pani Puri that bursts with tantalizing, tangy flavors. The Chicken Tandoori Poutine is a must-try, marrying smoky tandoori chicken with the comforting gooeyness of poutine—an inspired fusion that speaks to the creativity behind the kitchen’s offerings. For those seeking something heartier, the Tamarind Lamb Chops and Goan Curry Mussels deliver deeply layered flavors that are both bold and beautifully balanced.
Sides at Chauhan reflect the same imaginative spirit, with the Saag Mac n Cheese—a luscious, chili-spiced cheddar dish enriched with fenugreek and masala breadcrumbs—that perfectly balances creamy richness with a subtle kick. The Garlic Parmesan Naan and Short Rib French Onion Naan elevate the bread selection, serving as both a perfect companion to the curries and a satisfying indulgence on their own.
No meal here is complete without a touch of sweetness from their innovative desserts. The Gulab Jamun Cheese Cake artfully fuses traditional Indian sweets with classic New York-style cheesecake, adorned with blackberry coulis, candied lemon rind, and Marcona almonds—each bite offering a harmonious melding of cultures and flavors. Meanwhile, the Chauhan Chocolate Cake intrigues with its layered chocolate richness, garam masala-spiced ganache, and delicate gold leaf accents, leaving a decadent, lingering warmth that’s hard to forget.
The attentive yet unobtrusive service enhances the experience, as praised by numerous guests who appreciate the knowledgeable and friendly staff guiding them through the diverse menu selections. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between lively and intimate, with colorful décor and subtle audiovisual elements creating a captivating backdrop without overwhelming conversation or the flavors on your plate.
Whether you’re a devoted fan of authentic Indian cooking or eager to explore inventive culinary fusions, Chauhan Ale and Masala House in Nashville is a destination that promises a feast for the senses—each dish thoughtfully crafted to celebrate the bold, dynamic, and comforting spirit of Indian cuisine with a modern, welcoming flair.
Great atmosphere. You have different videos projected on the brick walls, which was cool. It made the place very calming and peaceful. Our waitress was excellent and attentive, but not overbearing. We tried various curries with naan, which was nice, and we also had an appetizer and a paneer dip with naan that were top-notch. Cash and cards are accepted, and it could be busy during peak hours. We came in at 5:30 p.m. and were promptly seated.
We were pleasantly greeted and promptly escorted to our reserved table for our party of 5. The restaurant was full but not crowded. The atmosphere was fun and inviting with lots of bright colored decorations and Bollywood movies playing silently on a brick wall. Out waiter Mort was excellent and gave us a good overview of the menu. The food was excellent. I particularly enjoyed both the experience and the flavors of the Gol Guppa Shots appetizer. Entrees were excellent.
Just ate at Maneet’s place in Nashville. Please park in the Whole Food’s garage and have the hostess validate the ticket. $13, hello! Took my nephew and had a wonderful experience. Had the pork shank, enough food for 3 people. Wife had ginger garlic shrimp w/vindaloo sauce. Nephew had saag and tandoori chicken. We also had Tandoori Poutine (goodness that was good). The food was excellent. Plug Mixologist Mary made us the best Old Fashions we had. Folks, do yourself a favor and go to this place. Great restaurant, great staff, great food makes for a fabulous evening. Loved!!!
Our meal was one of the highlights to our Nashville trip! We love watching Maneet on the food network. The food was amazing. Our servers name was Mort and he loves his job and it shows thru his service. Turns out he is also from ND! It was an added service being taken care of by a fellow North Dakotan!!!! He helped us all pick out our meals and he hit it out of the park! The food was amazing. The only thing that would have made it better was if Maneet herself would have been there! Highly recommend eating here!!!
My wife and I were visiting from NJ for our anniversary. We have very authentic Indian food in NJ and this restaurant did not disappoint! We had the curry flight with fresh naan which is a great way to experience all the different curries they offer with dinner. Our waitress was havarti and gave us the suggestion to try the flight before deciding on our main course. We also had the chicken tikka and the lamb chops which were amazing. You could smell the authenticity as soon as you walked in. The spice queen did not disappoint. Highly recommended!!
